DevBlog #14 - Technical Test

Just a couple more days
Thank you for your patience and for your support so far!
While we're working behind the scenes to get everything ready, you can already decide what you'll want to do on the Edge.
The playtest will begin on October 9th, 2026, and is expected to last 2 weeks!
This is a technical test only, and not representative of the final vision for the game
This Technical Test is under NDA
Please do not share videos or pictures on social media
Technical Test
This is a technical test only, and like we've already announced on the won't be a full demo. You'll be able to play the tutorial, customize your mech and play around in the new Training Arena with your friends!
What to expect
This test is focused on making sure the core systems work as intended and giving us a chance to identify issues before we move further into development.
Some things may be rough around the edges, unfinished, or missing entirely. You may encounter bugs, placeholder content, balance issues, or things that simply don't feel right yet. That's expected.
The purpose of this test is to find those issues and get feedback on the parts that are already playable!

What we'd like you to try
If you are struggling to find "what to do", here are a few suggestions for this playtest and how you can actively help development:
- Complete the tutorial
- Try out the different weapons and abilities
- Switch between the Scorcher and EM-BR
- Push the movement system and try different movement combinations
- Try the parkour challenges in the Test Arena
- Test the shooting range with different weapons
- Play together with friends and see how the multiplayer experience feels
- Try things that you suspect might break
If something feels confusing, awkward, too slow, too fast, or simply doesn't feel good, that's useful feedback for us.

Thank YOU for your support!
Multiplayer limitations and playing with friends
The test supports playing together with your friends, but multiplayer is still in an early state.
Some systems have not been fully implemented yet, and you may encounter synchronization issues or other unexpected behaviour.
We're particularly interested in hearing about connection issues, player synchronization, and how the game feels when playing together.
Team Damage has been enabled for this test, just to let you know!
The Test Arena
This is the area to test the games mechanics.
You'll have an objective area, a shooting range and a different, more challenging parkour than the tutorial level.

The shooting range
While the tutorial is singleplayer only, this area can be explored with others!

A few things to keep in mind
Not everything you see in this test is final.
Visuals, UI, animations, audio, balance, progression, and other systems are still being worked on.
There may also be features or content that are not available yet.
Their absence from this test does not necessarily mean they won't be part of the game!

How to participate
Since this is a closed technical test, access will be randomly assigned to players on our Discord who have the Prospect role.
You can get the Prospect role during the Discord onboarding process or by assigning it yourself in the "Channels & Roles" Tab.
If you're selected, you'll receive access to the technical test when it becomes available after you have agreed to the NDA.
You're welcome to share screenshots and pictures from the test in the playtest channel on the Earths Edge Discord. Please don't share them outside of the designated playtest channel unless explicitly permitted.

How to grant yourself the role
How to provide feedback
There is a discord forum where feedback can be written to, and is highly appreciated!
You'll automatically get access if you're selected for the playtest!
